On the 18th October 2019 BSC Solar and China Energy enetered into a Strategic Agreement to construct 1 gigawatt of renewable energy and storage projects across Australia.
This will begin with the investment into the 50 megawatt solar array with a 75 megawatt hour lithium-ion battery storage facility. This battery will provide frequency assistance and load smoothing support to the grid wihtin the Kemerton Industrial Estate area.
Following this initial investment China Energy will look consider establish a branch of their battery research centre in the greater Bunbury region to provide an option for the transition of the Collie workforce during the decommissioning of the local Power Station.
